The allure of brushes (xposted)

I've become obsessed with a painting that I'd like to do (obsessed = haven't been able to get over the idea of doing it), even though I haven't painted anything in years. So, finally, we went to the craft store and got some canvas paper (because I'm not very good and actually buying a real canvas is daunting), some small tubes of paint, and then Andreas asks me, "how are you doing for brushes?". This is a very dangerous question, but he probably didn't know it at the time. I love brushes. From the soft cats-paw ones to the fine line ones to the ones with the sharp angles, yes indeed. Brushes packaged together for $10 do not interest me, however. Nor do ones touting their wonderfulness despite poorly cut bristles and those shiny, wooden handles that I know beyond a doubt come apart: first, the paint cracks, then it chips, then chunks of it fall off in curls, and when you think it's all over, it detaches itself from the head. Hah. They have ones with acrylic handles now, did you know? With squishy gripper things, even, and colored tips. They look like magic wands. I only got three, but we had a lot of fun playing with them. Andreas bought the whole bundle for me for my b-day.

He also bought me the Griffin and Sabine boxed set (used but in perfect condition). No, it's not high art, but I'm easily amused. If you don't know I'm easily amused, you have not been paying attention. I had a package waiting at home as well. I know I should have waited two days until my actual birthday, but yeah, that's gonna happen. Anyway, some very spiffy earrings, a kinda meh necklace, and a impossible-to-use-but-pretty dragonfly perfume bottle were nested in the usual overkill packaging. Yay.

In other exciting news, I got seeds for some edible flowers and started those. Nasturtiums, violets, and pansies. I already have some jasmine, bee balm, hyssop, thyme, basil, daylillies, and probably some gladiolas around. Oh, and lavender. I think that's all my edible flowers.

Not asleep yet? Have a quiz thingy. HASH(0x896b468)
