morning turtle

I've had my morning turtle today. He* was a box turtle, with a shell a bit over a foot long, who decided to stroll along the complex. Found him on the sidewalk with a chunk out of the shell (just that flat, fringe bit near the back, nothing serious, no bleeding or anything), so I figure he'd gotten dinged by a car. I put him in my back yard, and if he's not managed to get out of the fence, we'll take him to a nearby pond. I would have this morning, but I was late already. In the meantime, he has salad and shade. Poor turtle. I didn't have a good way to give him a decent water supply. Bad me.

Anyway, have YOU had your morning turtle?

*he is used as a default; I didn't have time to get that inquisitive.

UPDATE: turtle has water and is not, indeed, a box turtle, which would have been more apparent had I not been in a rush. He's a Florida Cooter (water turtle). It rained 5" yesterday and we'll get more today, so he's not been suffering for lack of water. The book says they're "good eating". The turtle appeared to not be very happy about that comment. Andreas is in charge of the Turtle Relocation.
