2006-06-13 9:26 PM Possession is not 9/10ths of the law! Read/Post Comments (1) |
So lets suffice to say, the eviction did not go well at all today.
Well, it started off well. Well, sorta well... The constable showed up exactly at 10 am, as we had agreed on the phone last night. The tenants had changed the locks, so, the keys we had for the doors were useless. The constable lifted up my lard ass to jump through a window and unlock the door from the inside. The assholes left their 3 dogs inside, no water, no food, the poor lil critters. Being they hadnt been let out, there was a bunch of piles of shit everywhere. The smell was horrid. The constable went through the whole apartment, 3 floors, then went through the basement. The house is filled with, filth. That is truly the only way to explain it. The walls are filthy. The 3 new bedroom doors we installed prior to these assholes moving in are completely destroyed, holes kicked in them, black marker, one door off its hinges. Literally, the ONLY thing I can give them credit for (that makes me want to hurl even saying it) was the fact that the whole upstairs is cleaned out. Except for a dresser and a couch. After the constable took inventory, gave us the possession papers verifying we have been granted possession of the property back, he calls the SPCA and has them set up to pick up the 3 abandoned dogs, and he leaves in a flash. No sooner does he go around the corner, does the assholes show up like bats out of hell let me tell ya. I locked the screen door so assholes could see the "NO TRESSPASSING" sign posted, but that didnt even make them flinch. Asshole screamed "GET OUT OF MY FUCKING HOUSE YOU FUCKING COCKSUCKERS" as he rips open the screen door damaging the whole framing and breaking the glass. My husband speaks up, and asshole scampers and snatches up his dogs and screams all sorts of obscenities, threats to physically harm us and to cause harm to the house. All for the neighborhood to hear and watch. We dialed 911 was immediately put on hold waited waited finally we are dispatched through to the local cops, who inform us that there is a missing kid and this is not on the top of their list to deal with. Ok, I undertand that 100%, no problem, no big deal, please, find the kid, thats truly my thought. My husband, who had truly thought that this was going to be an easy thing (duh), ended up staying home from work today, awaiting on the police to call back. 4 1/2 hours later the police contact my husband because at this time, I had to go back to work. The officer he spoke to said "this is a civil matter, not my gig, deal with it through the courts" This is after 1. EVICTED tenant has tresspassed 2. Said evicted tenant made threats in public. 3. Said evicted tenant caused tremendous damage to our property. Small town law enforcement GRRRRRRRRRR I will be calling the Chief of police in the morning, I will be putting a restraining order on the entire family, including the children (I will explain that in a bit) I will also be pressing charges on evicted tenant for tresspassing. The good thing is I changed the locks, they cannot get into the property unless they break it down. Which we live right next door so we will hear anything over there. The other good thing they are finally gone. Now its just our job to clean up their smelly mess and piece all of this together somehow. We have estimated, and this is just a guess, but we have to replace all urine stained carpets (whole apartment), 5 doors (2 screen doors, 3 bedroom doors), ceiling in kitchen from overflowing tub, replace 3 bedroom windows, one of which we have to re-frame it in place, and paint, lots and lots and lots of paint. At this point, hubby isnt sure if he will go after them for the damages, but I will get my way, and those lil dirty people will pay for the damage they have caused. They left their kids down the street today, to keep watch to see if either my husband or I had left. Being Jeff stayed home, there was no sign of them. Tomorrow I have the day off, and will be home all day with the kids. Thursday is a different story, we will be making arrangements so our kids are some place else so they do not have to deal with any of this. Our neighbor across the street said she would keep a watchful eye on our home, and contact the police if she sees anything. ugh my warning to anyone out there who is willing to listen stay away from rental property stay far away from owning any rental property!
