Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Directed by Mike Newell

Best selling author J.K. Rowling's fourth book comes to life as young wizard Harry Potter (Daniel Radcliffe) starts a new school year at Hogwarts, competes in the treacherous Tri-Wizard Tournament, and faces the evil Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). Friends Rob (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) help Harry manage the pressure, but Voldemore lurks, awaiting his chance to destroy Harry and all that he stands for.

As with the novels, the movies just seem to get better and better with each installment. However, this is the first movie where I actually began to notice glaring differences between the book and the movie. They weren't enough to make me dislike the movie or to bring me out of the story, but some did make me take pause. The biggest example of this is the character of Fleur Delacour. In the movie, she's just another witch from a different school, but in the novel series she's part Veela (Veela are akin to something like a siren). The differences were minor, but still noticeable.

As with the other installments of this series, the casting was spot on and the acting and plot were top notch. The movie, while long, held my interest the entire time and while there was a lot of action, the pauses in between were perfectly timed.

While I do recommend this movie, I only do so if you have seen or read the previous installments, otherwise it won't make much sense to you.

My rating: Four out of five snails.
