Directed by David Yates As with the novel series, the moves just keep getting better and better as they progress. Perhaps this is because the actors are getting more and more sure in their roles, or perhaps it's because as it goes along the series gets darker and more serious. Either way, I like this one even better than the last. I did notice a few minor differences between the novel and the movie (and it's been over a year since I've read the entire series), but as with the others of this series, it wasn't enough of a difference to annoy me or to pull me out of the fantasy of the film. In this film, everything changes. The Ministry of Magic refuses to believe Harry that Voldemort is back and in doing so try to act against him at every turn. From attempting to get him expelled from Hogwarts to installing one of their own at the school to make ridiculous rules, all that they do seems to be to silence Harry. Meanwhile, Voldemort and Harry have a connection - one that Voldemort uses to his advantage to get Harry right where he wants him. As with the previous film, there is another sudden and surprising death towards the end of the movie. However, this particular death seemed much more emotional when I was a reader than it did as a viewer of the film. Perhaps because it did happen so abruptly it didn't transfer onto film. All in all I quite enjoyed the film and as with the other, the casting was spot on, even with the new characters that show up in this installment. If you've seen the others, keep on going and see this one as well. My rating: Four out of five snails. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
