Shark Night
Directed by David R. Ellis

When seven college friends pack their swim suits for a weekend of fun in the sun activities at their friend Sara's (Sara Paxton) lake house, they think it will be the perfect vacation. But the tables immediately turn when the lead football stark, Malik (Sinqua Walls), gets his arm ripped off during a water skiing accident. While his friends are to believe his wound was a freak accident, they soon come to discover that there was a primal attack involving a shark. Now while they think that one shark is no problem, they soon come to the realization that many species of sharks are luring in the water, and with no form of boat or transportation, and no signals for phones, the group of seven now face a fate they would never imagine. Being fed to these sharks by crooks for real life footage on an internet website.

Don't ask why there are sharks in a lake. No, sharks don't live in lakes, but this question is part of the lame plot of this rather bad movie.

Don't ask why sharks can attack in water so shallow it only comes up to a woman's thigh (without being seen no less). This question will never be answered.

Don't ask why the characters act the way they do in the situation they're in - blame it on the writer and director.

All in all, this is a bad B movie that isn't even fun. The shark attack scenes are not brutal or gory, so if you're looking for some shark gore action, this isn't the movie. If you're looking for well rounded characters and a plot that makes sense, this isn't the movie. In fact, I would just say ignore this movie and move on. You have a better chance of enjoying one of the bad B shark movies that a channel like Syfy would put out. I don't even know how this got theatrical release.

Avoid this movie unless you want to just wonder how something this bad ever even got made.

My rating: Two out of five snails.
