Micah
Book 13 of the Anita Blake Series
Laurell K. Hamilton

There are lots of reasons to raise the dead - some private, some public. In this case, the Feds have a witness who died before he could speak on the record. They want him raised so his testimony can be taken. So here I am, on a plane to Philadelphia, flying off to do my job.
But I'm not alone. Micah is with me. Micah, head of the St. Louis wereleopard pard. King to my Queen. The only one of my lovers who can stir my blood with just a glance from his chartreuse cat's eyes. I was happy to have him at my side.
Until he mentioned that this will be our first time alone together. No master vampire. No alpha werewolf. Just me and Micah. And all my fears and doubts.

This is an extremely short book and can easily be read in one sitting. In fact, I'm not entirely sure why this book is even needed in the series. The plot goes like this. Anita is called to head out of town to raise a witness for the Feds. Micah, one of her wereleopard lovers heads along with her in case her sexual appetites blossom so she doesn't end up with another complete stranger. They check into a posh hotel and have a lot of graphic sex. She then heads to the cemetery and raises the zombie, but the zombie blames someone there for his death and goes berserk. Anita ends up in the hospital and finds out from a blood test that while she is not a lycanthrope, she is a carrier of four different strains - wolf, leopard, lion, and one they can't identify. You know, making her even more special like every book does.

That's it. Unless you're reading these books for the sexual situations, this one really isn't worth it. It's short, but pointless. The writing was a bit sloppy and it's not up to the author's standards.

Unless you truly want to read every book in the series, skip it.

My rating: Two out of five snails.
