Book 18, Anita Blake Series Laurell K. Hamilton A prospective client, Tony Bennington, is desperate to have Anita reanimate his recently deceased wife. Anita is full of sympathy for his loss, but she knows that the thing she can do as a necromancer isn't the miracle he thinks he needs. The creature that Anita could coerce to step out of the late Mrs. Benington's grave would not be the lovely Mrs. Benington. Not really. And not for long. But Tony isn't about to take no for an answer. Much like the novel Micah, this one isn't really a full novel. It's a short book and a quick read and is based on the author's experience with flirting with a waiter in a restaurant with her friends. Yeah, not the most exciting topic for a novel. So, other than the flirting with a waiter that Anita and her friends do, Anita also gets kidnapped by werelions and forced to raise a woman from the grave. Of course, even in the span of this short novel, the author had to make sure to put a sex scene in there, and it's not even with one of Anita's man-harem. It's with one of the werelions. And because Anita is super extra special, that one time of having sex with this stranger makes him fall head over heels in love with her and takes away his will to the point that all he wants is to be with her. This novel really doesn't add anything to the series other than a new man to add to her harem. But hey, now she has a werelion in there. I was not impressed with this novel, but it wasn't really bad per se. If you're reading the series, read this. If not, it's not a good stand alone book. My rating: Three out of five snails.
