Book 19, Anita Blake Series Laurell K. Hamilton The Mother of all Darkness believes that the triumvirate created by master vampire Jean-Claude with Anita and the werewolf Richard Zeeman has enough power for her to regain a body and to immigrate to the New World. But the body she wants to possess is already taken. And Anita is about to learn a whole new meaning to sharing her body, one that has nothing to do with the bedroom. From the description of this novel, you would think it was all about the Mother of all Darkness and her fight against Anita and her friends. While that would have made a decent plot, that wasn't quite it. In fact, as I had mentioned in a previous review the death of the Mother of all Darkness seemed anti-climactic, so now this feels that the author realized this too late and has brought her back. Well, kind of. The body of the Mother of all Darkness is gone, but her spirit lives on in the various vampire council members. The plot actually goes something like this: Anita has sex with Jean-Claude, Richard (who seems to have loosened up about sharing her with other men), and Asher (because he was pouty). Oh no! The Mother of Darkness has possessed all of the council member and wants to kill us! Whatever shall we do? Have more sex! Oh no! Now the big bad werelion Rex, Haven, is being mean to his werelion pride. Whatever should we do? Kill him and then let the ardeur take over everyone in the building so we can have a giant orgy! Hey, if Anita or Jean-Claude can become the Master of all Tigers maybe the Mother of all Darkness can be defeated. Let's invite a bunch of weretigers here. And then all have group sex! So, yeah, that's the gist of it and I'm not impressed. So much more could have been done with what seemed to be a promising plot, but just turned into supernatural group sex. Read it if you're reading the series, otherwise there's no point. My rating: Three out of five snails. Read/Post Comments (0) Previous Entry :: Next Entry Back to Top |
