PG This movie is a lot of fun for both kids and adults. Both a six year old child and his thirty seven year old parents had a lot of fun at this film. It brings together a lot of classic monsters in a not very scary setting. In fact, the monsters are the good guys and are afraid of what humans would do to them if they found out that they were real. I'm not really sure why this got a PG rating and not a G - I guess they would rather be safe when a cartoon has all the classic monsters in it. Though nothing scared the six year old, so I personally would find this appropriate for all ages. Adam Sandler does an amazing job of doing the voice over work for Dracula and I had to laugh when I found out that Steve Busecmi was the voice of the werewolf father. Some other notable talent in this film is Andy Samberg as Johnny, Selena Gomez as Mavis, Kevin James as Frankenstein's monster, Fran Drescher as Frankie's wife, Molly Shannon as the werewolf's wife Wanda, Jon Lovitz as Quasimodo, and CeeLo Green as Murray the Mummy. That's a lot of talent for a kid's animated film. There's an actual plot in this film - Mavis wants to see the world, but her father is too concerned to let her go. He fears that any human would seek to destroy her and he won't let go of the promise he made to his now deceased wife to always protect her. When he realizes that in shunning Johnny he has made things worse, he tracks down the human to bring him back to his daughter. The comedy isn't top notch, but it's close. There are a lot of laughs and a lesson to be learned in the film. I'd highly recommend this film for kids and even adults as well. Though if you have a kid, this is definitely one to see with them because it's adult friendly as well. My rating: Four out of five snails.
