Paranormal Activity 3
Directed by: Henry Joost & Ariel Schulman
Rated R
81 Minutes

A malign and murderous spirit continues to dwell within a San Diego home in this second creepy sequel to 2007's chilling Paranormal Activity. Hoping to catch photo evidence of the spirit, the residents soon become victims in their own horror film.

The way these movies are ordered is odd. To watch them in sequential order, you would watch 3, then 2, and then 1. Yet they were put out in reverse order so with each film you watch you learn more and more about what's happening, where the demon comes from, and what it wants.

All three films are great popcorn flicks. They won't win any major awards, but they're a great thing to watch if you like horror movies or even suspense movies.

Much like the other two films, the beginning is slow moving, but it needs to be in order to set everything up.

The first true scare comes about 40-some minutes in. I'll call it the "sheet ghost". Horror movies really don't scare me, but the sheet ghost really did manage to creep me out. Even with all of the other creepy revelations and scenes, that one stuck out as the creepiest. Perhaps it's because of my association with Michael Meyers donning the ghost sheet in the original Halloween, but still, ghost sheets (especially when no one is in them) can be pretty darn creepy.

Suspense is added to the film by having the downstairs camera panning back and forth, so you always wonder what is just outside of your view.

I had a lot of fun with this film and it did indeed deliver on the creepy factor. I'm looking forward to part 4 coming out on DVD in the future.

I would recommend this to anyone who has seen the other films and to anyone who wants a suspenseful and creepy movie.

My rating: Four out of five snails.
