That's what our managers and others are saying about staffing season so far. Basically, shows that made various schedules are looking at their budgets and seeing how many upper level people they can hire which will then affect how many lower level staff writers they can then hire.

But Jennise did call our manager and got a brief update:
  • We made it past the assitant level at Night Stalker and have been passed up the chain
  • Lost now has our Main Street pilot (though we're not sure if it's because they didn't want to read our Joan, or they liked our Joan and wanted another sample)
  • Marina at NBC has passed our Without a Trace to several shows, including NBC/Universal, and possibly SciFi
  • We're being read by the folks doing a new show at SciFi called "Eureka" (I don't know anything about this one yet -- it may be a backdoor pilot, meaning first a made for TV movie that will become a series if it's well-received like Battlestar Galactica did)
  • We'll most likely be able to do a spec Medium, which is where we wanted to go
  • After the Medium we might do a spec pilot that's either supernatural or action oriented.

So, things are just getting warmed up for our level. We shall just have to wait. I love the fact that we have a team really working for us on this and we don't have to be the ones doing the work.

Back to waiting...
