Writing and Waiting

I wrote a flash children's story for one of my nieces yesterday while she looked over my shoulder. It was fun for both of us, and she liked the story (as did her mom, which is nice). I'm not sure I'll ever attempt to publish it, but it rekindled my interest in an old story fragment about a young girl and a manitou I wrote a couple of months ago. I'm also thinking about the children's story of the two princesses I plotted out during a trip back from West Texas a week or so ago.

On the submissions front, I'm waiting for several markets to let me know what they think of my stories. In particular, I'm hoping to hear from an anthology that might be interested in "Gunning for the Soul."

I found out yesterday that City Slab lost my flash submission, "Accidental Art." 81 days to hear that. *sigh*

On the work side of my world, I'm waiting as well. A law firm has made a tentative offer of employment to me, and I need to work out the numbers and other details with them before we decide if it's a good idea for me and for them. I would get to build a practice, help them with their existing practice, and make some real money. Time away from family is the problem I'll have to work through; I need a high enough salary to justify losing my self-employment based flexibility.
