A Few Items of Interest

I tweaked the site layout of Lone Star Stories at the suggestion of Jay Lake (and my wife as well) to move the link buttons to the bottom of each page. Now, the stories, etc. are front and center instead of pushed off to the right.

I'm pondering the need or lack thereof for an L*S (acronym courtesy of Lon Prater) editorial. I prefer to let the stories speak for themselves (a la Alchemy), but an introduction might be in order, as it's the first issue (and likely to be the only issue sans poetry). I've got a week to decide....

My evil elf story received yet another rejection, as did my Native American assassin tale. I'm attached to both stories, so I may well be blind to their faults, but they've both generated enough positive commentary to keep me hopeful that publication is a possibility for both. I just need to find some new markets for them.

I wrote a poem about the wonder of watching my baby daughter learning and growing, but that will likely stay private. I also began a short story that sputtered and stalled in just a few sentences. Perhaps a jump-start may revive it, but I don't feel optimistic.

My new attorney job starts February 2nd, and I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully family time, work, 'zine publishing, and writing will all still be possible after that date. We'll see how well I manage my time.
