Marriage is love.

Who am I anyway...redux

That poor computer at Amazon.com…
What must it think of me?
Does anyone else have these six books all in their first 15 recommendations?
"Fingering the Family Jewels" (gay mystery); "Streams of Living Water" (Richard J. Foster’s essays on spiritual practices); "The New Best Recipe" (from the America’s Test Kitchen/Cook’s illustrated folks); "The Book of Liz" (a play by David and Amy Sedaris); "Psalms" (James Luther Mays’ book from the Interpretation series); and "The Trouble Boy" (Tom Dolby’s first novel…a “gay-guy-in-New-York” novel). Will I buy these? Am I supposed to? Am I denying who I am if I don't?

Or what about these cds, similarly found on my rec. list?
"Magnificat" (by Chanticleer, the Grammy-winning male vocal ensemble); "Caroline, or Change" (original Broadway cast recording); "Wolecum Yule" (Anonymous 4’s Christmas CD); "John Barrowman Swings Cole Porter" (gorgeous, gay, Broadway star sings songs by the dead, gay composer); and "Sherry" (studio recording of un-produced musical by the host of Bravo’s Inside the Actor’s Studio). Am I doomed to a musical life limited to Broadway shows, Christmas music, gay singers, and religious compliations? What about my hidden love for Dolly Parton's bluegrass music, or my indie favorites who don't sell on the mega-site? Must I leave them behind and bow to the will of Big Brother?

Or, perhaps most hilariously, how about these as the first 3 DVD selections in my recs.?
The Star Wars Trilogy; Torch Song Trilogy; The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Is it true...am I really...a gay geek?

Do my book, music, and movie buying habits over the last decade paint me as some sort of hopeless stereotype? Perhaps...but then I look at my Netflix recommendations, which are only one year in the making. The first 5 are as follows: Mary Poppins; As Time Goes By: Series 6 (Dame Judi Dench’s former Britcom); Blazing Saddles: Special Edition; More Tales of the City [a mistake because I already own it]; and Shawshank Redemption: Special Edition. Does this show me to be a different person than the Amazon list? (or do I have all the gay or religious films available already in my queue?

And finally…My Amazon Kitchen and Cookware recommendations…
Matfer Exopat Nonstick baking sheet; Oxo Goodgrips Salad Spinner; Taylor Digital Oven Thermometer; Lodge Logic 12 inch cast iron skillet; and the Zyliss Susi Deluxe Garlic Press. Does the existence of this list mean I'm meant not to bar-b-que? Does it mean that I can cook like Mr. RM? (no to that last one, for sure.)

In “A Chorus Line,” they sang “Who am I anyway? Am I my resume?”...Today, should we sing, “Who am I, all this while? My online buying profile?”
