Revgals Friday Five: A Pro-Harry Approach

This week, the RevGals & Pals are talking Harry Potter...with the option of a pro or anti take on the zeitgeist. I choose to stand with the young Mr. Potter and the valiant enemies of Lord Voldemort.

Accio Friday Five!

1. Which Harry Potter book is your favorite and why?

Book #5, "The Order of the Phoenix"
While Harry's petulance is annoying in this book, the plot is beyond intense, the twists and turns are truly unexpected, the characters mature against their wills, and the book resonates most with the current state of the world at an allegorical level...That's why I'm so afraid to go see the movie today.

2. Which character do you most resemble? Which character would you most like to get to know?
Physically, I probably most resemble a male version of Professor Sprout. Emotionally and psychologically, Lupin for a zillion different reasons. (Anyone who doesn't see the parallels between homophobia and the prejudice that drives Lupin from Hogwarts isn't paying attention.) I would most like to meet Dumbledore.

3. How careful are you about spoilers?
a) bring 'em on--even if I know the destination, the journey's still good;
b) eh, I'd rather not know what happens, but I'm not going to commit Avada Kedavra if someone makes a slip; or
c) I will sequester myself in a geodesic dome to avoid finding anything out

b. I'd rather read what happens...or hear Jim Dale read it to me...but I'm not gonna freak out if I accidentally read or hear some details.

4. Make one prediction/share one hope about book 7.

Harry can only defeat Voldemort if he can forgive/show grace to Snape and Malfoy.

5. Rowling has said she's not planning any prequels or sequels, but are there characters or storylines (past or future) that you would like to see pursued?

I would love for Lupin and Sirius Black to survive book 7 and end up in a legal Domestic Partnership, and end up hosting Harry's engagement party to Luna Lovegood. (only slightly kidding)
