Marriage is love.

The Last 10 Random Songs on My IPod

10. Fernando (ABBA)

Gay much?

9. Didn't It Rain? (Chanticleer)

Not a very well known spiritual, I suppose, but powerful.

8. Poisoning Pigeons in the Park (Tom Lehrer)

One of the most Lehreresqe songs Lehrer ever wrote/sang. :-)

7. The Money Song (Avenue Q)

"Helping others brings you closer to God...so give me a quarter....All I'm asking you is to do what Jesus Christ would do...He'd give me a quarter...why don't you?"

6. Harold Arlen singing "Come Rain or Come Shine" at the Barbra Streisand ASCAP Tribute

A quirky little song...perhaps a bit self-indulgent of Ms. S putting it on her career retrospective CD.

5. Looks Like We Made It (Barry Manilow)

From the live double CD...the man can sell a song.

4. You'll Never Be the Sun (Trio II)

Emmylou Harris singing lead, Dolly and Linda on backup
Gently gorgeous, with beautiful guitar work.

3. Deadline David LaMotte

From the live double CD "Good Tar"
My great regret of the past year musically was missing his last concert in Chicago before his retirement (that hopefully isn't permanent).

2. Bed, Boys and Beyond

Title song of a 90's "Gay Men Living in New York" review, an anthem to that retail gay pick-up joint normally called Bed, Bath and Beyond.

"I want nothing cheap or shoddy, just a real home-body....I go shopping for a husband at Bed, Boys and Beyond...The man who I'll move in with, commit a mortal sin with. Every tchotchke that we find is another tie to bind, us for eternity."

1. Contact (Rent)

Original Broadway Cast CD. It's the, um, sex/breakup/death song...that was cut from the movie. No way to do this song and get even an R rating apparently. Not the best song to hear before going to bed...alone, anyway.

BONUS SONG

Defying Gravity (from "Wicked)

I was typing the last entry and the song finished and it shuffled to the perfect ending for the night...another favorite...another, um, sort of gay song.

Happy music listening!
