I have a day off tomorrow (hurray!) We're travelling down to London with our guests to see a play then coming back up here on Saturday morning. I predict a fairly exhausting time of it. For some reason sitting in a coach for hours at a time is always exhausting, even you don't actually do anything. Anyway, should be fun, and it makes a change from sitting in the office.

Sleep is fast becoming an poorly-remembered piece of nostalgia. When Steph and I staggered out to the cafe to write this morning, we just sat there staring like a couple of zombies. We did get down to writing eventually but neither of us managed quite as much as we might have if we'd been fully awake.

Tonight we're heading out for an Indian meal in Bradford. Bradford is perhaps the curry capital of the UK. It's got a high pakistani/Indian population and dozens of great restaurants. We're going to the same one our friends took us to a couple of weeks ago, assuming I can find it, the Omar Khan's. It's good value and good food.

People selling advertising space have now moved up to the position of those-who-bug-me-most, replacing those old favourites Madonna and the chap who presented a programme called "Go Fishing" on UK TV. They are constantly cold-calling people (normally academics) in my department and persuading them to spend vast amounts of money on placing advertisements in totally inappropriate magazines (most of which are magazines that are really only advertisements and which have no real distribution). I'm constantly having to wangle people out of these stupid deals and tell the advertising salespeople to get lost. Bah.
