2005-02-23 4:15 PM Christo and Jeanne-Claude Gates Today I went to Central Park to see the "saffron" gates designed by Christo and Jeanne-Claude. They were quite pretty blowing in the wind. When the sun shone behind it, it lit up all the fabric. They swayed back and forth in the wind and made little ripples that could be heard by anyone. Going up on a slight hill makes them look like they are marching up a ramp. Walking under them made you feel like you were walking through a royal passage but that royal passage led to another royal passage, on and on for 23 miles. The bright orange flying in the wind gates look great next to the emerald green grass. When covered in fresh snow they stand out in the world of white. If you haven't seen them, go now! They are being taken down this week.
