2005-04-02 7:15 PM My Friend's Brother's Fun Bar-Mitzvah Party Today, I went to Faye’s brother (Daniel)’s bar-mitzvah. It was tons of fun. In the morning, we sat through the service. Then after that, we went over to the Grand Prospect Hall where the real party was. At first, we were just eating appetizers. Faye and her family were getting many photo shoots and so when Sydney and I were waiting, we did the Electric Slide on this sofa that was very bouncy and uncomfortable to sit on. When we said: “To the left.”, we bounced to the left. And when we said: “To the right.” we bounced to the right. When we said: “Two hops, two hops!”, we bounced two times straight up. It was really funny and we did it until a guy came up to us and said, “Don’t break the couch.” Then we were led into a big party room with a large dance floor and a DJ. I sat down at a big table with Faye and Sydney. There was a basket full of toys and small games. A waitress came around and asked us what we wanted to eat. I got beef. Then, the DJ introduced Daniel, Faye, Faye’s mom, and Faye’s dad. They played a song and everyone started joining in and dancing ever so slowly. Everyone formed a circle and Daniel and his mom and dad were lifted up while sitting on a chair. Faye, Sydney and I danced silly together and made impressions of people we wanted to be there. Later, we ate our lunch/dinner. My beef was the size of my plate, which was very big, and so I only ate about 1/4 of it. After that, me and this other girl named Alona played cards. Then Daniel did this kung-fu thing with a real metal sword and the DJ played “Everybody Was Kung-Fu Fighting”. It was funny. Faye and her parents made speeches about Daniel and then the ice cream bar was brought out into the center of the dance floor. There were more songs, like Time Warp and Summer Days. I wanted to do the Chicken Dance and so Faye told the DJ and I was called in front of everyone and had to demonstrate the movements and sing the lines into a microphone. I couldn’t stop laughing. It was an amazing sight. There was: vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, pistachio ice cream, strawberry ice cream, M&Ms, chocolate syrup, chocolate sprinkles, rainbow sprinkles, strawberry syrup and more! Then, Faye and I got wild and started dancing, and spinning around and twirling. We asked the DJ to play 1, 2, Step and it was the remix so Alona, Faye, and I were dancing and singing and jumping… it was sooooooo fun! Then Alona asked to play Get Right. My mom was trying to tell me that we were leaving but I was jumping up and down so much, she couldn’t get me to do anything. I kept dancing until the song was over and I said goodbye to Alona and Faye. I would see Faye the next day and I bet we won’t stop talking about it at Hebrew School.
