This past weekend went by far too quickly. Saturday we sorta bummed around the house for about an hour, hit our bank to deposit my paycheck and then went to have lunch. We ate at Panda Express. I haven't eaten at one of those in a long time. It sounds crazy, but I've been on a healthy food binge. I'm really liking healthy foods since we've been shopping at Whole Foods. I think it's because I have a lot more energy because I've been eating things like green salads, drinking soda with pure cane sugar instead of processed crap, and of course, drinking more water. I have a soda once or twice daily now and the rest of the time I'm drinking water. It makes me feel good. I've also lost a few pounds. :)

I haven't mentioned much about work because of a previous incident. But what I have to say is good and I'm not mentioning names. I got promoted! I'm now doing tech work! I've been doing it now for a week and a half and I'm thrilled. It makes me feel like I am making progress towards my ultimate goal of becoming a veterinarian. :) Me feel good. It does mean longer hours daily, but they're still going to work around my school schedule each semester.
So, I've been one busy little bee! Oh and I also got a raise! :)

Berek also found out on Friday that he got the promotion he was up for. :) Now he's a team leader and he got a pay raise (which for those who know is a really excellent thing)!

In any case, Saturday we wandered with his dad to a couple of places. The little pet supply store we wanted to go to was closed an hour earlier than they were supposed to! Idiots! Oh well. We were at Samuel French to look for stuff for dad and Ben. I didn't really like the store because of course it is specially for actors and people who are interested in acting or plays. I mean I didn't hate it, but I'm not into things like that, not anymore. Had we gone there perhaps a year or two ago, I would've been all into it. After Samuel French we went to the hobby store. I was excited for that, until that is I got a call from my dad. I had forgotten that it was his birthday that day. What a schmuck I am! So I decided it was best that I skip dinner with Berek's family to go and spend the evening with my dad for his b-day. Berek was nice about it. That evening was about him and his promotion, and I had to leave him alone to deal with his mom and dad. I love you sweetie and thanks for being so understanding!

Sunday was our day to do whatever. We decided we were going to wander around a bit and do some minor holiday shopping. We're not really having a formal gift exchange with my family or his, but I decided I wanted to get some small things for my family so that they would be surprised. Naturally, I had to blab to them when I got to my grandpa's gift because I had to find out from my mom if he would like a nice bottle of Kaluha. (He used to drink Kaluha and milk all the time) She of course wanted to know what I was up to. I said just picking up some gifts. Then she was like, "Well you know we haven't been doing any shopping for you guys." I said that that was fine, it's not about receiving on Christmas, it's about giving. Something that is totally lost on the population in America. Christmas is a corporate holiday now. In any case, we went to the Topanga Mall which wasn't so bad. It took forever to find a parking space, but in the end we found one pretty close to the entrance. We went to Illuminations and picked up a few things for us as well as my folks. Then we stopped at GameStop for some Heroclix for Berek. It was pretty uneventful.

Berek wanted to go to the Northridge Mall to go to Border's as well as to go to the Apple store for some headphones he's been wanting. When we got there, we looked for a space for about 30 minutes. We started up an aisle where a guy was just sitting in his car waiting for a space to open up. We were trying to get around him at first, but the guy wouldn't move and then a rather large family started down the aisle so we couldn't go. Well, as it turned out, they passed him and got to their car which was plausible for us to get the space. Well the asshole in the car decided he had earned that space so he started to back up (nearly into us I might add)! When we shook our heads "no" the ass actually got out of his car (left it running with the door open) and started yelling at us saying that he had been waiting there for a half an hour and that that was his space. Berek started yelling back saying that it wasn't our problem that he was dumb enough to sit in one place for 30 minutes and that he was in line to take the parking space. The guy was fuming and kept yelling at us and I yelled out, well if you weren't blocking the whole lane we could've passed right by you and been on our way and then you could've been fighting with the people behind us for the space. At which point he said we weren't trying to pass him. So Berek started pulling forward and the guy went to his car and we let the cry baby have his space. Whan an asshole! Why would you stay stagnant in one place waiting for a space? *Sigh* No one said the human race was smart. In any case, we wandered a bit more, but gave up. From there we headed to Border's by our house and that was that.

We still needed to do our grocery shopping though, so we headed out at about 7 to do that. As I said, we've been doing our grocery shopping mostly at Whole Foods. We picked up a book on hypoglycemia too. Apparently, most of my health issues are symptoms of this disease. Berek found a book on diabetes that had the types of foods he should avoid as a diabetic. He got rather depressed after that. A lot of the foods he loves (Pasta, rice, and potatoes) are off limits. I explained that we simply needed to work on a balance of portions and not pile on tons of pasta and rice or potatoes. He was still sad. Naturally, he didn't pick up that book. I really wished he had, but he's not ready to give up on certain foods. I understand. I found out that I can't have a whole lot of sugar in my diet too. *Sniffles* We're going to work on it though.

We decided to be a little naughty and pick up some stuff we wouldn't normally have. I picked up a salmon fillet that was marinated in teriyaki sauce. (By the way, I ate that Monday on a bed of white rice and whew...good stuff, but it stunk up the house) Berek picked up a quiche. He hasn't had one in such a long time. :) So that's the latest update.
