2006-12-11 12:19 PM Emotionally charged... Mood: Tired Read/Post Comments (0) |
So this weekend was a rather emotional weekend. Friday was a great day! Work went by pretty quickly and then Liz, Berek, Ben and I went to Gotham Hall (Berek's Holiday Party) in Santa Monica at 3rd Street Promenade.
The decor of the hall was awesome. It was tan and purple, but tastefully so. They had these huge pillar candles in even bigger hurricane glasses (very nice touch with the dim lighting). Great ambience! I honestly felt like a rockstar! :) (I'll post pictures of me later...) They had some appetizers like huge shrimp with cocktail sauce, veggie platter with ranch, fruit platter and even waitresses wandering about with plates of a variety of things, like spring rolls, beef on a stick, and quesadillas. (By the way, they weren't cheesy cheap appetizers either, someone put a lot of time and effort into these things and they tasted even better than they looked!) Not only did they have great food, but they had an open bar! WOOT! I didn't get plastered, but I did get tipsy for awhile. I had a Bailey's, a Midori Sour, and an Apple Martini. Plus, I had a lot of water and did eat small portions of food so that I kept myself hydrated and always had some food in my stomach. They had a live band when Berek and his group went up to do the YMCA. :) It was really cute and I'll have to see if I can put up the video! Berek and Ben got up and sung Soul Man too. I have a video of them too. In any case, we all had a blast. Saturday we hung around the apartment for most of the day although we did run out for a few errands. We played some City of Heroes and Berek and I made a Hawkgirl/Hawkman type team (although for copyright infringement purposes they are not named or even the same in looks!). Rob, Jen and Laura almost showed up at the same time for Amber. As most know, they had to give up their cat due to allergies and my best friend Laura was sweet enough to take her in (even as a possible permanent home)and look for a new home for her. It was sad to see a family being torn apart. After everyone left, Berek got a call in regards to his grandmother's health and it's not good. I'm not going to post about it because I feel that that is something he needs to post about if he wants to. But it was a bit depressing. I went off to hang out with Liz because we had plans to do so and Berek didn't need me around because he, Ben and their dad went out for some retail therapy (I didn't blame them either). I helped make pancakes (which apparently I'm damn good at) and we watched chick flicks. First was John Tucker Must Die and then it was Mean Girls. Both of them were really surprisingly good flicks. I enjoyed them. So now I was on the up rollercoaster. After 11 p.m., Berek picked me up and we went home together. He was naturally not a happy camper, but he was making the best of it. I had this really weird thing happening though. It's not new, it's happened before, but it was actually kind of scary. I had a swishing sound in my left ear. It coincided with my pulse and when you put pressure on the area just distal to my earlobe (below it) the swishing sound stopped. As soon as you let go, it started up again. The other creepy thing was when Berek put his ear up against mine...he heard it too. I'm not sure what this is about, but it's going to be looked at soon. Sunday was a laid back day. I had a horrible headache so I didn't want to go out or anything. I cancelled my plans with Ashley because I was feeling really gross and nasty. Perhaps I had a bug or something. Who knows? Apparently, all of the television networks were in sync with me because normally there wouldn't be anything on t.v., but yesterday there were a whole slew of things to watch. In fact, there were too many things I wanted to see. I wound up watching The Princess Diaries, The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, A Knight's Tale, and one other one which I can't remember off the top of my head. We also watched an episode of Smallville we missed and I've got to tell you I can't wait for the next new episodes of that show! They are having Flash, Aquaman, and Green Arrow form a pseudo-Justice League! WOOT! WOOT! WOOT! :) Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!
