The whole family was sick last week. We've been trying to teach Hunter to cover his mouth when he coughs, but it's not an easy thing to do.

I was about to sneeze and wanted to show him the "cover one's mouth" concept in action. I started to move my hand to my mouth when I remembered reading that small children have difficulties cupping their hand sufficiently to actually deflect any germ spray and that it is therefore more effective to teach them to cough/sneeze into the crook of their arm.

I was halfway to the reflexive mouth-cover-an-instant-before-sneezing when I thought of this. Unfortunately, in my haste to convert my action, I whacked my nose hard enough to see stars.

They don't cover this type of injury in your typical parenting class.
