I've been told that some neighbors of ours – some very sweet people who are raising a great-grandson with whom Hunter sometimes plays – are circulating one of those "marriage should be only between a man and a woman" petitions. I'd already assumed they were religious, since they’d mentioned that one of the first things they did when they moved to the area was try to decide what church to attend.

As I've said before, I consider myself subversive rather than confrontational. I prefer to communicate using whatever paradigm is chosen by those who hold opinions with which I disagree. In this case, I've decided on the following response should they approach me with their petition:

I believe that any sincere love between two people is an earthly manifestation of God's love for all of His children, and, as such, is inherently sacred.

Wonder if it will actually make them think....
