I was going to post this big entry about The Evils of "Everybody Knows" and how the dehumanization of the Other that shows up in ethnic jokes and political speeches lessens the humanity of us all and stuff like that but I simply don't have the energy to do it justice, so I'm just going to say this:

I really wish that more people -- especially those running for office -- would see political candidates as opponents, not enemies. I liked that Joe Biden could talk about being friends with John McCain, then talk about how McCain's policies would not be good for the country. I want more actual respect, not plastic My Esteemed Colleague crap, respect that allows for the possibility of widening one's perspective, maybe even evolving one's policies and strategies to incorporate The Other Side's Policies when they actually have valid points.

I'm too fuzzy-headed (no longer feverish, but still sick) to continue coherently, although there's more I'd like to say. Maybe later; maybe not.

On a practical note, I ordered a 25-pack of Obama bumper stickers last week (cheaper in bulk, considering postage and the ones for friends up here.) It'll probably take another week or two for them to get here; if anyone would like me to send some to them, let me know.
