While The Four Feathers has some beautiful scenery, neat effects and nice costuming, the story could have used a bit of tightening. The film was based on a novel, and it showed in some of the time and location jumps that the film made without any transitions.

The story about a man redeeming his self-worth works well, but the movie loses sight about his struggle. It becomes more of a story about the British in Sudan than it does about the main character's journey.

All in all, a serviceable movie, just not very heart-pounding.
