No Pain No Gain

X, my love, bought me a christmas/birthday(April 8) present on Saturday. A shiny and new silver Raleigh bicycle. She's always had a bike here but it would have been nice for me to have one to so we could go out on little adventures. Voila, now I have one! I haven't been on a bike in years but once I got going, it felt oh so good. Damn good. I haven't been working out much lately so it felt even better. The seat got to be too hard after awhile. Talk about saddle sore! This was a great present. It's nice to be able to ride the bike in January and hopefully the nice weather will stick around.

However, I must say I'll be busy the next two weeks or so. The novel workshop is gearing up and I now know the participants and I have assignments. I'm reading, again, Maass's Writing The Breakout Novel. I also have to read Zuckerman's book. Ha! Watching the first six episodes of 24 (the first season) is another assignment and Dean says we may not be able to stop after those first six. I think I only caught one episode of 24 in the first season but I'm eager watch them. I can't find the episodes on video and I think they're only available on DVD. I've been meaning to buy a DVD soon.

Anyhoo, the novel rewrite will be filling my days and nights the next two weeks. That will be good for me. Deadline. No pain no gain. I don't know how good it will be but it will be done.

I'll need to get it done by Feb 12th and sent to the other participants. The weekend of Feb. 13-15 is RadCon. I was going because X was going and being on panels, but now I guess I'll be doing a panel or two at RadCon. Maybe even a reading. I bring this up because I want to send in a Zeppelin story (which I've already started) the deadline is Feb. 16th. I'll need to have that done and sent by Con weekend.

So, the burning sensation in the legs from biking, and the pain of looming deadline. Nothing like a fire under your ass to know you're alive.
