It's been a long time . . .

Two weeks from today I will officially be on seasonal layoff and I'm looking forward to it. There are some factors (or potential factors) coming into play that might eliminate the luxury I have of taking four winter months off. With that said, I want to put this winter's time to good use. I'm even going as far as writing up a mission statement that will cover my discipline and my "process." I need to instill good habits to keep me going through the full-time work season.

We might lose our cheap rent in the next year and I my car could go belly-up and I'll need to get another one. This means a higher overhead for me and that's why these things endanger the luxury of seasonal layoff. I have made the decision to look for a higher hourly wage. I'll be applying at the Eugene Country Club this winter to see if I can get on the grounds crew. Shouldn't be a problem with the many years of experience I've had at Emerald Valley. At a country club, I'll be able to get two dollars or more an hour which will help a lot. Plus I can ride my bike there, even if we have to move.

So I've been driving around taking note of all the election signs. It's disheartening to see all the Bush signs, even more disheartening to see the vote yes on measure 36 signs with ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN in bold. That, of course, is Oregon's measure to make gay marriages unconstitutional. What's even more depressing is hearing people I know who are liberal and democrat saying Bush will probably win and mearsure 36 will probably pass.

Say it isn't so. It's going to be a close race. No reason to give up hope until election day. Oregon has defeated measures from the nefarious and homophobic OCA before, and even though this measure isn't from the OCA, I think measure 36 has a good chance of being defeated.

Bush depresses me because of war and fear mongering and disregard of future consequences from actions in the present.

I can't wait to get this election over with.
