Mood:
Proud, in a burny sort of way

I took off from work on Friday in order to head up to Pepperdine with Jen and her family (mom, grandmother, and aunt and uncle) for her graduation from law school. Jen's mom rented a limo for the occasion so Jen wouldn't have to drive, so it was a pretty comfortable trip up there. Berek met us up there as well, although I think he had to park a ways off in the lot at the top of the hill.

For those of you who don't know my wife, or haven't been keeping up with her journal (which I highly suggest you do - she's much better at posting than I am), she just graduated from Pepperdine Law School. Woo! I'm married to a bona fide doctor now (of law, not of medicine).

Okay, back to the story.

The graduation itself was nice, up on a hilltop overlooking the ocean, but being up on a hilltop means being closer to the sun, with all the obvious drawbacks. Both Jen and I are pretty overcooked, and it made shaving this morning rather uncomfortable. I need to start remembering to drown myself in sunblock before heading out for long periods of time - apparently, the Irish side of my family is where I get my skin genes from. If I was any paler, I'd have to start tanning just to offset the blue in my skin.

Afterwards, we headed back down to our neck of the woods to go to Benihana for dinner. I love that place - although from start to finish of the day, I managed to put on six pounds. Ugh. Finally, after dinner, Jen and I went back to the apartment, covered our faces with wet towels, and bemoaned our somewhat crispy fate.

Congrats, sweetie! *hug*

Er... on the doctorate. Not on the sunburn.
