I'm anal-retentive. I admit it. If things in my office look cluttered or messy, I can't work because I'm too busy being distracted by the sheer amount of crap that's built up. The same goes for online things... I've got a task list on Outlook that shows what's due when, and anything not on there I keep in my e-mail inbox until it's done, then delete it. Normally, I'll have less than 5 e-mails in my inbox, because I try and take care of things as I go along so they don't build up. It's as if I'd have so many things to do, I wouldn't know where to start on them.

I don't know what happened last night. I left my office, and it was fine. My desk was pretty free of random papers, I had two e-mails in my inbox (and only because I was waiting on a reply from a director on both of those, who was out of the office yesterday), and my task list was pretty caught up. All was groovy.

This morning, my desk can't be seen for all the paperwork on it, I've got thirty-seven new e-mails which need to be addressed, and a few more of my tasks have come due, two of them because a director has changed their timeframe for when this needs to be done. Add to that someone storing a big box of junk in the front of my office ("Only for a day or two...") and I'm practically watching a new nervous twitch develop.

I wonder if you can Feng Shui an office...
