Had a thoroughly enjoyable weekend and, since things haven't gotten all that busy at work yet, I figure I've got a minute to post about it.

Friday night was the D&D game I've been running for about two and a half years now. It was supposed to be the climactic battle that was being built up to since day one, where the group faced off with the big evil that's been a pain in their asses. Or, more accurately, one of the big evils... more seem to have sprung up. Well, as they are so fond of doing, the party mauled him, doing such foul deeds to my well-crafted antagonist as blinding him, disintegrating one of his arms, hacking at him with huge swords and lances, mashing his face in, and - lest I forget - magically transporting his weapon into the nether regions of his own ass (and that's just him - his minions fared no better, either being converted to the group's side, shot in the head with a crossbow, or eaten by a conveniently placed dinosaur). It was pure abuse, and a lot of fun to boot.

Saturday morning I took my car into the dealership for its 10,000 mile check-up. Oil change, tire rotation, brake check... nothing spectacular. Came home, slept for a bit, then Jen and I met up with Berek and Pita for some hanging-out time which started in Pasadena, made its way to Hollywood, then went back to Pasadena, and finally ended in Burbank.

One note about this - when you're vaguely tired and in a particularly silly mood, some things are twistedly funny. In this case, it was the building in Burbank with the large glowing sign on the roof proclaiming it to be "The Incredible World of Dic". It became the running joke for the rest of the night.

Yesterday was just lazy. Jen and I just slept in, lounged around the house, ordered dinner, and relaxed. It felt good, even though it meant scrapping our original plan of going to Disneyland. There'll be other weekends for that.

And now, I'm back at work. They're discussing the possibility this morning of closing our department the Friday before the Labor Day holiday, which would mean a four-day weekend. *crosses fingers*

Ah, well. Back to the grind.
