History and chocolate

It just hit me that I never paid off the "chocolate" reference in the title of the last entry, so here goes: chocolate! Yay! Okay, that's it. No, just kidding...

I got ten delectable gourmet chocolate truffles (in various combinations of dark chocolate, coffee, espresso, marzipan, liquor, etc.) from the local chocolate shop in my Easter basket, and was very happy with them. I've been hoarding them ever since, and am very proud that I still have two left (after one eaten for inspiration with this morning's coffee, hoping that it would help stimulate plot ideas). It will be a very sad day soon (probably tomorrow) when I finally run out...

And I don't think I've mentioned yet that I'm working on a new (long) short story, "The Five Days of Justice Merriwell". It's a fairly dark, alternate history piece that was very much inspired by watching episodes of Simon Schama's A History of Britain. I started it last Thursday, and I'm hoping to finish it by the end of tomorrow. Fingers crossed... I really like it so far, but endings are always scary!

Meanwhile, I'm enjoying a comfort read, Juliet Marillier's Son of the Shadows, which is big and romantic and completely sink-into-able, and I'm slowly starting to wonder if maybe, just possibly, I should start to exercise again soon....
