Today has been a day full of good things. I went to the Borders café with Justina, her adorable baby, and her partner, and I drank Signature hot chocolate and had really good conversation. Afterwards, she dropped me off at the university student union, and I got my first haircut in far, far too long! My hair was texturized, layered, and drastically cut (about 7 inches lopped off). Now it's somewhere between my chin & my shoulder, and my head feels astonishingly light. I bought two bars of good dark chocolate (one Divine and one Green & Blacks) and two new Pilot V-5 disposable fountain pens in the union shop (which made me ridiculously happy, since I hadn't been able to find them anywhere since my first one ran out of ink). At 2:30, I met Patrick and we drove home together. Mmm, I like his new working schedule so much!

And I had a nice email notification today: I'm now an official, active member of SFWA! Anyone who's been reading this blog for a while will know that I'd thought about joining last year but decided against it because we were too broke to consider it a reasonable expense. However, this year my brother Ben generously offered to pay for my SFWA membership as a 30th birthday present! So I'm very happy to now be a SFWAn (at least for a year!).

Now Patrick's doing his MFA work in the kitchen. I'm thinking about making a cup of Earl Grey soon, to drink with a square of Divine dark chocolate. I wrote the first 700 words of a new short story this morning, and I'm going to read through them this afternoon. So far, it's been a good Wednesday.
