Intro to 2005

I don't have to much to say about New Years' weekend. It came, it went, and nothing of note really happened. Friday night I was actually stuck at home waiting for the water to rise (thanks to the neighbor who cried "flood"), called off of work at the restaurant just in case, and ended up with about three centimeters of water in my basement and nothing on the roads. I should've known better.

Saturday I stopped at my parents' to pick up some cat food to feed to the stray kitten that I apparently (and accidentally) shut in my garage for almost a week). Hopefully I'll be passing her along this week to a good home, thanks to my wonderful friend John and his cat-loving friends. That night I worked a crappy shift at the rest and passed out at home.

Sunday I lazed about the house, watching Buffy and playing video games, and later stopped at my friend Lara's new house on the west side to admire her purchase and to visit for awhile. I ended up lazing about on her couch just like I would in the days of old, and headed out later to meet Jess and John for some drinks. We all ended up going home pretty early that night, it just wasn't happening.

Let's see...I think all I did on Monday was go to lunch with Jessica and play more video games. That X-Box will be the death of me.

Tuesday night I headed to D's on the West Side for my little server interview. I'm pretty sure they'll hire me, and I really can't tell you how thrilled I am at the thought of working at a non-corporate restaurant. No "Seven Steps of Service." No little pamphlets that managers read aloud at shift meetings. No two weeks of training complete with unbelievable tests where you must know all of the ingredients of every dish on the menu, what wines to sell with what dishes, what sort of meal you would recommend to someone on a gluten free diet, and how many seconds you have to deliver drinks. No secret shoppers. No bullshit uniforms. I can wear jeans. I'm ecstatic.

Though...I'll be working three to four nights per week until about 2:30 am, then somehow managing to make it to work at 8:00 am. I'm sure the enthusiasm will wear off any minute now.

Then last night I tried to watch the season premiere of Alias, but since my sister had my Season 3 DVD's and since I couldn't remember what happened last season I had very little idea as to what was going on, I gave up and went back to my Buffy video game. I was happily playing until BJ managed to coerce me into going to his house and spending the night.

*sigh*

...And, true to form, the mind f***ing continued. That boy drives me crazy. But he was sweet...and we talked about going on vacation together in the next few weeks. I think the Aloha State needs another visit from moi. I think the two of us might have a good time...unless he manages jerk me around a bit more, thereby resulting in vicious beatings to his skull with a kayak paddle. We'll see.

But, of course, there is good news to be had today. It appears that on March 22, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead will FINALLY be available on DVD. That makes me very, very happy.

I've also been at the office ON TIME every day this week. I'm awed.
