Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

"It is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness." - Eleanor Roosevelt

Saturday afternoon began well when we were able to see a pre-season game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Houston Texans with the final score of 9 to 20 respectively.

I believe this to be one of my first pre-season games. It was an exciting game because every time I looked away and then looked back one team or the other had a different quarterback. Michael advised me that his assertion was this was where the coach could see who was on top of his game, who needed more work, and who could be a backup quarterback, very interesting.

I was sad to see the 49ers lose but I am happy that football is returning to the little screen. Don't get me wrong, I like to be at the game but I am spoiled. Being in the comfort of my own home, not paying an arm and a leg for snacks and I don't have to stand in line to use the bathroom is something to be grateful about. Oh yeah, there isn't that gigantic traffic jam after the game.

Then onto Sunday Night Football, we were watching the Pittsburg Steelers and the Indianapolis Colts. What a game! They both stayed head to head, then one would pull ahead, then it would be even, then the other would pull ahead to the final finish of the Steelers 26 and the Colts 24, too bad Colts.

This game was the same as Saturdays in that were a lot of new players on the field. New players with some under the 200 pound mark. This is scary to me when you look at players like quarterback Ben Roethlisberger at 241 pounds or running back David Johnson weighing in at 260.

Life is good now that Sunday Night Football is back in town, so between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. PDT. I won't be available.

The Lament of the Tomato Plant

Yesterday Michael went out and picked what tomatoes we had on the poor Roma tomato plant. It did not make the transition from the ground to the pot. Oh well, a lesson learned and our lesson is: Next year, everything is going into a pot.

The gopher is still around and now he is making himself known in Mr. and Mrs. T's garden. Mr. T won't be as understanding as I was and he will send the little fellow or miss off to gopher heaven in a heartbeat. I still see trails in my garden space (he, he, there is nothing there to eat) and he/she is showing up in the earth on my side of the fence. Nothing is there but grasses from the bird seed. I don't know if gophers eat grass or not. I guess I will look that one up to see.

NOTE TO SELF: Check on gophers eating grass.

How the Day Goes

Over the past month, I just haven't had the get up and go to do much of anything. It's only with Michael's encouragement that anything gets done. Yesterday he assisted me with the laundry and that was a big help and he helped put clean sheets on the bed. Goooo Michael!

Last night we had talked about going for a walk in the morning. Michael said, "Let's see."

So this morning, he was up at 7:30 a.m., besides a "good morning," he inquired about taking that walk we had talked about last night and that was when I groaned and rolled over wrapping up in my blankets.

I was not ready to get up yet but by 8:30 a.m. I woke up and was ready to walk.

We got ready and out the door we went. We walked around our short block. We noticed blooming flowers, the houses, stuff in people's yards, and what a nice morning it was.

I didn't find any mailboxes that caught my attention but I did find a fun flower. It's HUGE! What I would call them is flute flowers.

The rest of my day will be doing small projects and just taking it easy.

I hope your day goes well too.
