Words-of-Mine

No matter what the day brings, deep down I know it really is a good day because I have the man of my dreams, a kitty who loves me, a roof over my head and I live in paradise.

"We're not here to lose our sense of humor." - Ritchie Berlin, "A Woman's Spirit," page 16

I remember as a kid that I found things humorous. I remember laughing over silly stuff. Somewhere during the teen years and there on, I stopped finding things or even life funny.

Life was a chore. There was nothing funny about it. Worries about finances, boyfriends or the lack thereof, attempting to be a good mother.

I remember a lot of crying during this period of life. Sobs shook my inner being because I wasn't sure what to do. Life seemed so hard. I felt alone. Shoot, I didn't find the comedy shows on the television funny.

Because of program, humor and laughter have come back into my life. Now I even find stuff on the TV funny and will chuckle, a big surprise for me.

Actually, now when I look around there are amusing things all around.

When I sit at the dining room table, I watch the birds that come to feed. I can sort of tell the young ones from the elders. I see the territorial disputes. And, talk about territorial disputes, what the hummingbirds. My oh my, try being outside with them, I can hear the beat of their wings as they buzz past me.

Since the cold I haven't seen many hummingbirds so I brought the feeder in and cleaned it up for the spring season. Then just the other day I see a hummingbird twice. I don't know if it is the same one but I get the nectar ready and place the feeder outside. Once up, sure enough a hummingbird comes to feed.

This bit of Mother Nature makes me smile. I know that even if I didn't feed them, they would still be okay and can take care of themselves.

For me, the birds are a good role model for me. Take life easy. Food will appear when it is supposed to. Housing is where they make it.

I'm even getting to the point I can laugh at myself and the things I do. I don't take myself so seriously. Every situation has more than one choice if I but only look for it. If I look for the funny side of life I WILL find it.

The sun was out today. It was nice enough I opened up the living room window and the back slider. There's nothing like the sun to relax you and to see the pleasantry of life and to keep taking those steps towards the giggles.
