Dispatches from the City of Angels

I'm a writer and humorist living in and writing about Los Angeles. You can catch my novel LOSING CLEMENTINE out March 6 from William Morrow. In the meantime, feel free to poke around. Over at my website you can find even more blog entries than I could fit here, as well as a few other ramblings. Enjoy and come back often.

Pain and Transcendence: A race in pictures

I'm back!

I spent the last four days in the High Sierras getting acclimated to the altitude, kicking around with the bears in Yosemite and running the Shadow of the Giants 50K. (We're using the term "50K" here loosely - 50 kilometers being 31 miles and the course being 33.5.)

It was, in all ways, perhaps the best race of my life. I'm waiting on official results to type up a complete rundown, but in the meantime, pictures!
