New friends and vacation time

Mood:
Excited

I'll be out for a few days. I'm going up to the mountains of the Poconos with my wife for two days of primitive camping in the mountains. Sometimes you just need to get away from the lab and clean-out the ole reaction vessel.
But I'd like to welcome some new friends to the links section:
Prof. Michelle Francl, who teaches chemistry at the esteemed Bryn Mawr(try to say that name three times in Welsh!) College. She publishes her "Culture of Chemistry" web log which is full of fascinating observations into famous chemists past and present. I especially enjoyed the bit on "The Invisible College."
Dr. Derek Lowe sends us "In The Pipeline", a look into the world of pharmaceutical chemistry. I liked his bit on why big pharm companies don't go out of the way to hire medicinal chemists. Years ago I actually considered a career in that field; looks like I made the right choice.
And Mr. Myke Cole shows how to "Strangle The Muse." I've known Myke for many years. He lives in Washington DC and works in the IT field down there. Myke is a gifted writer, a talented martial artist, and a good friend. His web log was the inspiration for this one.
Peace. And keep the glassware clean.
