A Tale of Two Autotunes
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

I want to write a story about a popular R&B / Hip-Hop performer who uses autotune so much that he inadvertently develops perfect pitch and supernatural singing ability, thereby rendering the pitch-correction effect useless. "It's just not working," producer Johnny will say. "Your singing is too perfect." After countless hours of trying unsuccessfully to sing poorly, the R&B star concedes to cut a record without the autotune. Sales are sluggish, but for the first time in years, the voice on the record is his own. Lessons are learned, tears are shed, and mainstream Hip-Hop is saved from seemingly imminent death. Check it out this Sunday on NBC.
