How many dreams go unremembered?

How many inspiring, creative, and educational journeys dance in the night sky, unnoticed by the sleeping souls below? Like an alternate universe with no recorded history, the land of dreams is inhabited by minds volitionally unrestrained. Good and evil, beautiful and hideous walk alongside one another down streets of gold and dirt and blood.

There is no judgment in this place; no benefit or burden of reflection. It is a land in which we participate but cannot recall, anticipate but seldom navigate. It is a place of collective release. Only on occasion do we connect with this ubiquitous place, and only on rarer occasion do we pretend to understand it.

It's odd to think that our minds work without us and will perhaps continue to do so long after we are gone. Our dreams function often without our approval and always without our consciousness. Is this dream world forever at play? Will the mysteries become clear only after we've completely disconnected from external, physical consciousness?

Perhaps we don't remember many of our dreams because only in death do we establish a real footing in this alternate world. And upon death, not only do the realities of our own dreams become clear; those of our friends and loved ones do as well. Is this heaven?
