Plain Banter
. . . lies about science fiction, and everything else.

When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

Keeping All The Balls In The Air

I just realized that as of this past weekend, I have ten stories in the mail to various markets. Lately, I'd been pretty lax about sending out my stuff, with only one or two things out at any time. Of course, you can't sell a story if you don't put it in front of a pair of eyes that might buy it, so this was not a good thing. When I was newer to writing, I used to keep over twenty stories in the mail at the same time, so the ten I have out now is hardly a personal best, but as there really are not twenty good "pro" markets for short SF, ten is a pretty good number these days. In the past, when I was trying to break into print, I sent stories to a lot of markets that I wouldn't bother with today, so it's a bit tougher to place work now that I'm more picky about what markets I send to. Yeah, yeah, I'm so jaded.

OK, which one of you nice editors is gonna send me a contract? I'm waiting.
