Plain Banter
. . . lies about science fiction, and everything else.

When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

A ball drops

Last week, I mused about having a bunch of stories in the mail, in Keeping All The Balls In The Air. The first ball came down today, and I don't have to toss it up again.

Good news; my first response from that batch of ten stories looks like a sale. The editor said they should be able to buy it in a month or two, after they use up some inventory. This is a pretty good sale, as it's a longish piece, which limited the number of places I could have sent it. Actually, this will be the longest piece I've ever sold, and 13,100 words at pro rates should pay fairly well. I won't say what market it is until I see a contract (yeah, stuff happens) but this looks like a done deal with a very reputable pro market.

Now, let's see what happens to those other nine balls that are still in the air.
