Plain Banter
. . . lies about science fiction, and everything else.

When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

What's my name?

I've always gotten email where people have misspelled my first name as "Brain". Doesn't bother me -- I figure it's just a Freudian slip. Completely understandable.

Today, however, in a business conference-call meeting, one of the other attendees called me Brian Planet, several times. I'd guess a few of the other folks who knew me cringed a bit at that, but I thought it was pretty cool, and didn't correct her. It was an honest mistake; my secret identity as a science fiction writer is still mostly intact at work.

They call me . . . Mister Planet.
