Plain Banter
. . . lies about science fiction, and everything else.

When the writer becomes the center of his attention, he becomes a nudnik. And a nudnik who believes he's profound is even worse than just a plain nudnik. -- Isaac Bashevis Singer

Analog magazine posted the online ballot for the "Anlab" awards. That's their annual readers' poll for material that appeared in the magazine.

This past year, I have one short story, "Dibs," in the running. As I've done for the past few years, I will email a copy of the story to anyone who sends me a request. Sure, it's a blatant attempt to buy your vote, but the voting is anonymous, so there are no strings attached. I won't have any idea whether you voted or not, or voted for the competition.

The ballot does collect your name and address, but that's because they draw a name from those who voted and send them a free magazine subscription. Good luck. The voting is open until 2/1/2005.
