In media reports today, Pope Benedict XVI has said (link) to have 'revealed' to media representatives on his flight from Rome to Sydney, Australia, for World Youth Day 2008, that he will apologise the sexual crimes committed by priests.

"It is essential for the Church to reconcile, to prevent, to help and to see guilt in this problem," he said.

Ah, well, then. World Youth Day is saved... from one thing, at least... suddenly.

Okay, so his opinions of Australian Catholic priests are already cynical, before he has even set foot on the soil of australia. At what point is the Pope going to 'reveal' his cynicism for WYD?
