The Nobel Prize season is upon us, and the Physics prize has gone (in part) to Professor Brian Schmidt from Australia who was leading an international team from his position at the Australian National University.

Oddly, I was in a meeting with another person named Schmidt on the day after the announcement; and, he said that he had been woken up before 7am by a reporter from a local media outlet, asking for Brian....
