Talking of going viral....

I submitted an article to Slashdot.org and it was picked up on the front page.

The editors changed it a bit, but that's fine.

The point?

The Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, a Welsh-Australian and not someone well known for her sense of humour, did a spoof speech for an Australian radio station about "the apocalypse" (end of the world), and it has "gone viral" in China where they did not "get the joke". Gillard said in part, "Whether the final blow comes from flesh eating zombies, demonic hell beasts or from the total triumph of K-pop..."

Speaking of the Welsh thing, the European discoverer of eastern Australia, Lieutenant James Cook RN, thought that our coast looked like a part of the coast of south Wales, and called it "New South Wales". We Aussies still do not get it! :-)
