The company was forced to change prices of some items recently. We had actually moved some items off the dollar menu, and up to $1.29 a couple weeks ago, then the corporation adjusted nationwide. So, some came down, while others went up. Since we have also had some management changes, we cannot locate the proper price strips for our menu boards. The new store manager at my place decided to mearly take the entire strips off the menu board. This means that although a 4-piece chicken nugget cannot be found on the sign, it is available, at $1.29...a chicken sandwich however, that had been a staple of the dollar menu, had gone up to $1.29 for a few weeks, then returned to the dollar board. So, the guy brings his receipt to a crew member. She has come home from college, and this is her second shift since summer. His receipt says he has paid for five 4-piece nuggets, for a total of $6.45. She cannot explain why, so she calls me over. He points to the nuggets on the receipt, and I immediatly say that the nuggets are no longer on the dollar menu. They are now $1.29. Now, he is looking at the menu board, where he cannot find them. I tell him we are waiting for the new menu strips, and with all of the snow and inclement weather, we are not sure when they will arrive. (at this time, I was very busy, as drive-thru was backed up, and due to said weather, I am covering various positions simultaneously)He says to me that he owns his own restaurant, and he knows poor management when he sees it. He then says to me, "I want you to do me a favor". I do not respond, but look into his eyes. He repeats it, "Will you do me a favor?"...I still just stare at him, no answer. Again, he says to me, "I want you to do me a favor then, will you do me a favor?"...I say to him, "I need to know what the favor is, before I can commit to it"...He says to me, "I want you to take the nuggets back to one dollar until you have the new strips in place. Can you do that?" I say to him, "No, I am not authorized to change prices. Would you like to talk to my store manager, she is here right now." He then gets very angry, and says "No, I want your name and store number, so I can complain to the corporate headquarters." He reads my name off my name tag, and repeats it aloud, as if it weren't really my name... whatever...like I can change prices. Due to supply and demand right now, I would change everything to $8 each and they would be happy to pay it for the most part, as much of the city has shut down in the snow and ice...He is lucky I cannot change them. Cheap-ass SOB. Write to the state and complain Washington State has near the highest minumum wage in the entire country, and it is going up again on the first of January. Someone has to pay the wages, might as well be the customer. |
