One day last week, I sort of threw it out there that I had forgotten to request Martin Luther King, Jr. Day off. If there was any way I could arrange it, then I would take it. Then, the trouble with my tooth came up. I had called in Saturday afternoon, saying I would probably be at a dentist on Monday, and I would not be coming in until after that appointment. Within 2 hours of me calling, the dentist had called me, saying she would fix it on Saturday. I called back, and the assistant manager had covered my Monday shift, but not my Sunday shift. I worked today (Sunday), but tomorrows shift is covered with crew. I am afraid that "B" is not going to like this arrangement one bit, and want me to come work it. I would still like to take it off, and go watch high school basketball games. I left a note to her, saying to call me if she wanted me to work it, but I sure am hoping they can live without me. At work today, the lobby was filled. I started working the second register, to get the line moving a bit. The 16 year old kid working the first one, stopped me, asking this question...(this is what is wrong with our schools today)...Is a half dollar worth fifty cents? |
