Mike and I spent most of the day getting ready for his annual "SuperBowl Party". We used to make a big deal of it, and invite friends over, but that got out of hand, and we were not able to see the game. The game itself is one of two things: 1) a very close, tight game, where it really is the two best teams going at it, or 2) a blow-out of epic porportions. When we were dating, some 25 years ago, we attended a party at his friends place. The men were in front of the tv, and the women were in the kitchen, making pizzas for them. It was the most awful party I have ever attended. Never again will I subject myself to that, and I haven't. I am a sports fan. I enjoy watching the game. I had three older brothers, and my sister Cindy and I never got to watch what we wanted to watch anyway. Either conform to their programs, or get beat up (again)...This explains why I am a tomboy at heart, and love the games (and yes, I know the rules) and also why I ride my own motorcycle... Mike sent a text to the girls, telling them of his plans, and they can come watch the game, eat the food, and enjoy his company. I have to work. Why do I have to work? Because I didn't realize the SuperBowl fell on both the first day of the month, and the last work week day of the January managers schedule. I needed to request it off prior to December 15th, back when I thought I would be transferred to a different store before now. I have eggs boiling, so I can make deviled eggs. Caitlyn made Chex Party Mix, Mike is steaming wings...I am making salsa and guacamole, Mike is doing a cheese and meat tray...We have chips, and Ritz, cream cheese, raspberry chipotle sauce, and heaven knows what else. Come on over, just sit down, shut up, and don't interupt the game, nor the commercials. The game starts at 3:15 or so our time. I am off at 7:00. I am planning on faking an illness if I can't figure out any other way. Oh, which team to root for, when your team isn't playing? It isn't the one you like the most, it is the one you hate the least...Go Cardinals!!! |
